Rubber

Rubber flooring is very comfortable to walk on and its springy nature puts less strain on muscles and joints.

Rubber is often preferred in stores, kitchens and hospitals or anywhere where employees have to walk or stand for long periods, while sports facilities particularly prefer rubber floors due to the nature of their activities. Businesses that use many electronic devices may also choose rubber flooring because it reduces common static electricity.

Rubber is treated in much the same way as Vinyl and Linoleum to protect its appearance and enable effective cleaning but there are differences. For example, using a sealer before applying polish is often required to achieve sufficient adhesion and protection.

Stunning results

The transformation resulting from restoring a rubber floor can be amazing. Colours can be dramatically enhanced and floors frequently look far better than when originally fitted.

Customers who have been fighting a losing battle find that after we have restored their rubber floor, they can become effective in their cleaning regime by following a carefully developed floor cleaning guide. Scrub and re-coat treatments are required at intervals to ensure sufficient protection of the floor and are usually carried out within our periodic floor maintenance programme.

Deep Cleaning and Sealing Rubber Floor at Stanton Bridge Primary School, Coventry

The dining hall in Stanton Bridge Primary School in Coventry was deep cleaning and sealed. The sealer enhanced the colour of the floor and the room lightened up as a result. The treatment protects the floor from wear and tear and prevents dirt from getting stuck in the floor. We supplied a Floor Maintenance Programme to make the daily cleaning easier.

Cleaning Limescale Off Rubber Floor By Swimming Pool

The granule make-up of this rubber floor made it very hard to clean. Water would seep through the rough surface, leaving limescale deposits and body fats to build up making the floor impossible to clean.
A specialist deep clean was needed to restore the floor and give the visitors a better experience when they turned up for swimming lessons.

New coats of polish had been added to a dirty floor during the daily cleaning programme, capsuling in the soil. The floor was only six months old.
All the old polish, embedded dirt and soil has been stripped off by chemical cleaning and then refinished. The surface is now ready to take the high volume of traffic.
220 m2 canteen visited daily by 800 pupils.
A total of five coats of protection have been applied, two sealer and three polish.
Neutralising the floor is an important step to achieve good adhesion for the floor finish. In this case, several rinses were needed and only when the floor was 'neutral' could we apply the finish.
The finished result.

Rubber Floor Restoration

Old polish and embedded dirt had to be stripped off this Pirelli style rubber floor before it could be re-sealed to enable effective cleaning. We refinished the floor to make it resistant to foot traffic of 800 pupils and to make daily cleaning an easier task. To help control the soil brought in from outside and optimise daily cleaning, we supplied entrance matting and developed a cleaning programme for the in-house cleaning team.

Entrance matting act as the first line of defence when it comes to preventing outside dirt and grit from being walked into a building, and, even more importantly, they reduce the risk of slips and falls - a key consideration for all publicly accessible buildings. Research shows that up to 90% of all dirt and debris present within a building is tracked in from the outside on the bottom of shoes. An effective entrance mat measuring 6 meters can remove 75% of all this dirt, contain it in one place and reduce the cleaning cost otherwise required in the building.

The ‘Wet & Dry’ Floor Cleaning Method

The ‘Wet & Dry’ Floor Cleaning Method

What is the 'Wet-and-Dry' Method? When using the Mop & Bucket system, the 'Wet-and-Dry' method is a very simple yet incredibly effective step in picking dirt and grit off the surface during floor cleaning. First you wash the floor with a wet mop until you're satisfied you can't clean any more dirt off. Then you go over the damp area with a CLEAN, DRY mop to pick up any leftover dirt and grit you couldn't pick up during the clean. You will be amazed at how much dirt you can still pick up during this simple step, please see below.
